LEADERSHIP

Milt Lowder, Ph.D.

Dr. Lowder founded the Lowdergroup in 2005 with a vision of providing quality psychological services to the Upstate community and beyond. The Lowdergroup has grown significantly since its inception. Dr. Lowder possesses a true expertise in building encouraging, collaborative relationships with each individual, athlete, family, or business and coaches his clients to maximize their performance in all aspects of their lives. Operating primarily from a cognitive-behavioral framework, Dr. Lowder helps his clients develop and implement practical strategies and encourages them to improve their mental, physical, and spiritual lives.

In addition to his work at The Lowdergroup, Dr. Lowder serves as the Sport Psychologist for the Clemson University Athletic Department, where he works with student-athletes, teams, and coaches to improve their performance and to assist them as they deal with the pressures of college athletics and life. Coach Swinney summed it up best when describing his role to the football team, “Milt’s job is the peak performance of our team as well as the mental health of our team.”

Dr. Lowder is married to the former Caroline Thompson, and they live in Greenville, SC. They have three children, Jay, McKee, and Emerson. Dr. Lowder credits his children for continuing to provide his greatest educational experiences to date. He and his family are active members at the First Presbyterian Church in Greenville. When time allows, Dr. Lowder enjoys spending quality time with his family, playing and attending sporting events, and the outdoors.
