Cory Shaffer, Ph.D.,

Dr. Shaffer completed his Ph.D. in Sport Psychology from Florida State University (FSU). Prior to his doctoral training at FSU, he completed his B.S. in Human Development with a concentration in Social and Personality Development from Cornell University (2010) and his M.A. from Teachers College, Columbia University (2011) in Developmental Psychology. He is originally from Transfer, PA and joined the Lowdergroup team in 2015.
Dr. Shaffer has earned the status of Certified Consultant with the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (CC-AASP #542) through his work counseling and consulting collegiate student athletes, including FSU Men’s and Women’s Track and Field and Cross Country, FSU Baseball, as well as collegiate football and basketball coaches and players. In 2014, Dr. Shaffer spent time working with Naval Special Warfare Group Four, based out of Virginia Beach, VA, delivering mental skills training to Navy Special Operators, training cadre, and support staff. He is proficient in utilizing biofeedback, among other technologies, to train athletes and performers how to control stress and manage muscle tension for peak performance.
With Lowdergroup, Dr. Shaffer’s main role is in providing sport psychology services to the Clemson University Athletic Department. He also provides sport psychology services to local junior athletes, coaches, and teams.
In his spare time, Dr. Shaffer enjoys working out, spending time with his girlfriend, friends, family, and his dog, and watching and attending sporting events.
